Coleção Ivani e Jorge Yunes contains artworks and objects from different time periods and locations, from classical antiquity to the mid-twentieth century; from Brazil to dozens of other countries. However, besides the manner in which these works are displayed, there is nothing from the present day.
While pondering the reasons for this lack of contemporary art, KURA’ s founder, Camila Yunes Guarita, created the project Caixa de Pandora. Its name comes from the popularly known Greek myth about the first woman created by the Greek gods, imprudent and curious, Pandora opened the box containing all of the world’s evils, letting them escape. A lesser known fact is that what remained in the box was hope. In a work of art there is something hopeful, it conveys the desire to venture out into new paths of expression and of the self. By bringing contemporary art into this collection, Caixa de Pandora fosters curiosity while allowing different periods of art history to coexist with the disturbing present we live in today. And it does so precisely by placing its wager on art as a bearer of hope. Each edition of the project features a different artist presenting artworks produced after an immersion in the private collection. Camila Yunes Guarita

A arte tem a capacidade de eternizar tantas coisas, principalmente invisíveis. Pensando nisso, a KURA, em parceria com a Carbono Galeria, criou a edição de múltiplos da Caixa de Pandora – uma obra que é um desdobramento do projeto de intervenção de um artista contemporâneo dentro de uma coleção privada. O Múltiplo é um registro do projeto, produzido exclusivamente como uma extensão da exposição temporária para morar definitivamente em outras coleções. Camila Yunes Guarita
