4 YEARS OF KURA

This month, Kura turns four years old and we have prepared a special newsletter to share our journey so far. In this period, the company has doubled its business, the number of customers is up 72% and the team has grown from three to 17 people. Thank you all, artists, collectors, galleries and institutions for following and supporting Kura's work.
Kura is a pioneer company in the advising segment in Brazil and aims to demystify the art system, promoting partnerships between different market players. It is a business that adapts itself to each client and project, working accordingly to a vast and diverse artistic scenario. In order to professionalize the local circuit, the business seeks to reformulate some traditional parameters in relation to collecting, adopting a more comprehensive and innovative approach. Camila Yunes Guarita (Founder and Executive Director) and Tamara Ganem (Director) coordinate the team that closely monitors market fluctuations and the national and international art scene. This data analysis supports the advisory provided to clients. Crossing financial information with updates on artists' production allows the formulation of more assertive and personalized prospects.

SERVICES
ART ADVISING In a historical approach, the art advisor is a connoisseur: a specialist with experience and knowledge to support and guide individuals and institutions in the field of art. It is a job that requires specialized information and a good network. Our team is formed by: Florencia Azcune (Advising Head), Mariana Autuori and Nathália Zemel (Advisors in São Paulo) and Maria Ferro (Advisor in Rio de Janeiro). Since last year, we have been offering face-to-face services to clients based in that city, through Kura Rio. And this year, the team is complete with Stephanie Guarido, an expert in crypto art and NFTs. The team supports collectors (beginners or experienced) in a personalized and strategic way, offering the services of: selection and acquisition of art works; Pre and post sales logistics; Secondary market strategies; Advising on works’ loans; Previews and guided tours at exhibitions and fairs; Organization of national and international trips. In the second semester of 2022, the team will travel to Documenta in Kassel, Germany; the Venice Biennale, in Italy; and Art Basel, in Switzerland.

COLLECTION MANAGEMENT
Designed for collectors, in order to provide them with the management of their archives, Kura has a team entirely dedicated to the material and digital organization of private collections. Regardless of the number of art works, the services include: creation and development of a database, coordination and supervision of installation, restoration, storage and conservation of pieces, in addition to assessment, insurance and loans. Mariana Leão (Art Historian) and Thaís Franco (Art Historian and Designer) work as a “bridge” connecting the collection to all external services collectors may need. With a multidisciplinary approach, the department also creates printed and limited edition catalogs. This special service provides design, essay writing, mockups and print production. Kura launches, this semester, the catalogs of collectors Marcelo Antunes (RJ) and Ana Júlia Kiss (SP).

ARTISTS’ CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Understanding that the creation and circulation of art works demand different tasks and strategies, the team provides a supporting network involving all areas related to artistic making. Joana Leonor (Production), Teo Teotonio (Curatorship), Gabriela Mexias (Curatorship) and Paloma Vasconcellos (Social Media) promote conceptual discussions, development of creative processes, creation of portfolios, production of critical texts, partnerships with institutions and companies, meetings with curators and artists, visits to fairs, exhibitions, as well as studio visits. In addition, the department also offers extra services, such as: strategic planning and production of content for social media, and production and curation of exhibitions. It is a complete tutoring that allows the artist to have conceptual background and, above all, time to dedicate to the production of art works. The services can be contracted all together or separately, depending on each individual needs.

SPECIAL PROJECTS, PARTNERSHIPS AND COMMUNICATION
By seeking the uniqueness of each client, Kura develops customized projects for brands and companies, taking art to different segments. Attentive to the features and goals of each target audience, the team promotes different activations, creating stimulating experiences in the art scene. Margherita De Natale (Head of Communication), Ana Caligiorne (Design) and Ludimilla Fonseca (Content and PR), are responsible for Kura's visual identity and branding. They are connected daily to the national and international artistic calendars, to trend forecasts and news from the art circuit, in order to offer exclusive and relevant content to clients, in addition to establishing internal communication.

CAIXA DE PANDORA
The Ivani and Jorge Yunes Collection brings together art works and objects from different times and spaces. Thinking about the absence of contemporary art in the collection, Kura created Caixa de Pandora. Within each edition of the project, artists are invited to immerse themselves in the archive. They are invited to think about the relationships between the private art pieces and their own artistic production, in order to create site-specific works, make interventions and think about new exhibition possibilities. The result is an exclusive solo show. Besides that, the Yunes’ Collection always incorporates a work of contemporary art into its archive. So far, six editions have been produced, with the participation of artists: Barrão, Ana Dias Batista, Paulo Nimer Pjota, Vik Muniz, Regina Silveira and Marcela Cantuária. This year's edition is already in the making.
